The Circle of Life through HS Sports
As soon as I walked into the noisy Cedar Shoals gymnasium, at the ticket desk sat a Jaguar alumnus, Jeffrey Burton, a face the east side...

Art is Important is an outreach program focused on using art as expression and holistic healing for restorative justice, mental health, and substance abuse in Athens-Clarke County.
AI believes that art is essential to a healthy Quality of Life as defined by the World Health Organization. This concept is supported by the engaged theory outlined in the Journal of Applied Research in the Quality of Life. We curate culturally diverse events each year and award grants to worthy young creatives in the name of art.

Currently, I, Cassie Chantel, mentor through the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement's End the School to Prison Pipeline mentorship program and I have two mentees. Through this program, my mentees have the opportunity to gain professional experience working for a magazine by learning the fundamentals of photography, editing, videography, and more. They are able to contribute their own ideas and I cater their experience to fit their goals. They are able to complete their mandated community service hours while building their resume.
In 2023, I hope to expand mentorship and acquire 3 workstations, 3 microphones, 3 audio interfaces, and 3 DSLR cameras. This equipment acquisition will allow us to facilitate more students at once. I am open to receiving equipment or monetary donations to achieve this goal.

Lesle Montgomery and Cassie Chantel were in Montgomery's basement talking as they often did. Her basement was filled with countless pieces of art. Some pieces were hung, and others were scattered about in no particular array. Propped against a table sat a rectangular slab of wood painted white with black letters with the words Art is Important. Chantel told Montgomery then in 2018, "We have to get this into the schools. Everyone needs to see this." That is still the mission today.

Grief is defined as a cause of suffering, and people typically relate these feelings to losing someone by death. The fact of the matter is these same feelings emerge if a relationship with a significant other or friend ends, or you may reflect on your past life and grieve those changes. how have you seen your environment express grief? What does it look like to you or to others?
In life, you will soon learn that just because you are right about something, does not mean the other person is wrong. This topic is meant for you to explore the parallel world of truth. Think of a time in your life when you’ve seen this statement hold value. what does it look like? How has it made you feel?
